DESCRIPTION

Take a moment before your big shot with a fresh brew of Off The Bench.

This limited-edition blend is made in collaboration with designer and illustrator Jethro Olba. Jethro’s artworks bring waves of nostalgia with elements influenced by 90s cartoons and basketball, and have been featured by global brands including Nike, Foot Locker, and Crocs. With beans from Uganda, Guatemala, and the Philippines, Off The Bench brews up a familiar blend of chocolate, walnuts, and wine, the kind that feels like home. However you gear up for the day, this medium roast works great as a pour-over, espresso, or batch brew.

At Plain Sight, we believe that getting your coffee to you at the right time provides for a great brewing experience. We make sure that you'll get your coffees not more than 10 days from the roast date, ensuring the right amount of time for you to try it out without it being too fresh off the roast. We recommend brewing the coffee 7 days from roast and flavors will peak around 2-4 weeks from roast

COFFEE ORIGIN

Uganda

Uganda’s unique location and microclimate create a fascinating range of flavors in both Arabica and Robusta coffee. Ugandan Arabica typically features bright notes of dried fruit, citrus, and spice, where most of it is grown on Mount Elgon, the world’s largest free-standing volcano. Meanwhile, Ugandan Robusta offers a distinct flavor profile, ranging from caramel and nutty notes to tropical fruit and spice. Coffee in this region is proudly produced using sustainable farming practices and environmentally friendly techniques.

Guatemala

Guatemala's diverse growing regions yield exceptional coffees, celebrated globally for their rich flavors. Despite setbacks like Coffee Leaf Rust, the country continues to produce high-quality beans, with innovative processing methods driving record-breaking prices. The industry's diversity, including smallholder farmers and cooperatives, contributes to the coffee's overall quality improvement. Cooperatives offer support and training, empowering farmers to market their coffee as specialty, further enhancing Guatemala's reputation in the coffee world.

Philippines

Coffee in the Philippines boasts a rich history, with Arabica and Robusta varieties grown across diverse regions. While not a major player globally, the Philippines offers unique and flavorful beans favored for their mild acidity and fruity notes. Smallholder farmers dominate production, often employing traditional methods. The country's volcanic soil and tropical climate contribute to its distinct coffee profiles. Though facing challenges such as aging trees and low productivity, efforts to revive the industry are underway, with a growing focus on sustainability and quality. Filipino coffee presents an opportunity for drinkers to explore distinctive and ethically sourced brews.
